How it works

Faster access to healthcare

Medicare and your health fund already pay for your care. What holds it up is the one amount you must find first: your excess or medical gap. Feezi pays it, so the cover you already hold can do its job, on time.

Starting with the excess

First the amount due at the door.

Feezi doesn't pay for your treatment. Medicare and your health fund already do. We pay only the excess and medical gap you must find before your care goes ahead.

We're starting with the hospital excess: it's fixed, it's due on a known date, and it's written into your policy, so we can pay it the same day. Next comes the in-hospital medical gap from your surgeon and anaesthetist.

For hospitals and clinics

Excess paid in full on admission. No commission.

Research suggests half of privately insured patients have delayed or avoided a procedure because of the excess.* Your pre-admission team asks for it on every call. Feezi pays it to you in full before the admission date, and it costs you nothing.

Many payment plans pay your practice a commission or charge you a fee. Feezi does neither. We don't pay you to recommend us, and you have no say in who gets a plan. We handle the plan, the repayments and any problems, so your team doesn't chase payments.

Feezi charges you no commission and no fee Feezi alone decides who gets a plan Fewer delayed admissions for an unpaid excess

Zero fees apply to onboarded providers, and onboarding is quick and free.

Questions

Simple answers.

Got another question? Email enquiries@feezi.com.

What does Feezi pay for?

Only the amount you must pay before your care goes ahead. At launch that's your private health insurance hospital excess, paid to your hospital before admission. Next we'll add the in-hospital medical gap from your surgeon or anaesthetist. Feezi doesn't pay for your treatment itself; Medicare and your health fund do that.

When does Feezi launch?

Very soon. Sign up to get notified and we'll email you the day we launch.

How much can Feezi pay, and for how long?

From $300 to $2,000. You pay it back over 4 to 12 weeks. The bigger the amount, the longer you get.

Do I ever pay interest?

No, never. Feezi charges one flat fee, never more, built into your weekly payment and shown before you agree. What you owe can never go up.

Does my hospital pay Feezi anything?

No. Feezi charges them no commission and no fee, and pays them nothing for recommending us, so nobody has a reason to push you into a plan.

Who can get a Feezi plan?

You need to be 18 or older, live in Australia, have a medical bill between $300 and $2,000, and be able to afford the repayments without hardship. We check this for every plan.

What if I can't make a payment?

Tell us as early as you can by phone, email or online, whatever suits you.

You can ask us to change your payments because of hardship, and we'll write to you with our decision within 21 days. While we're looking at your request, we'll put your payments on hold.

Depending on your circumstances, we may reduce or waive your fee, move a payment, or set up a new plan.

Feezi charges no fee for a missed payment: no late fee, no default fee, no dishonour fee, no collection charge, ever.

If you're not happy with how we handle it, you can take your complaint to the Australian Financial Complaints Authority free of charge.

Free, independent financial counselling is also available on the National Debt Helpline, 1800 007 007.

Who makes sure Feezi does the right thing?

ASIC regulates Feezi. We hold Australian Credit Licence 577316 and are a member of the Australian Financial Complaints Authority (FF145707), which handles complaints for free.

What is a gap?

A gap is the difference between what your doctor or other provider charges and what Medicare and your health fund pay back.

Medicare sets a schedule fee for each service and pays a benefit based on it. Providers set their own fees, which are often higher. Whatever isn't covered is left for you to pay. That's the gap, also called an out-of-pocket cost.

What is an excess?

An excess is an amount you agree to pay towards a hospital stay when you use your private hospital cover. Your health fund pays its benefits after that.

You choose the excess when you take out your policy. A higher excess usually means a lower premium.

Hospitals generally ask for it on or before the day you're admitted. That's the bill Feezi pays for you, in full, on the day.
